
, the sustainable fashion brand born in Valencia to demonstrate that dressing with style and values is possible; OpticalSens, a company dedicated to research, development and marketing of chemical and molecular sensors with a special focus on the detection of chemical submission drugs and cellular senescence; , an aeronautical company specialising in the design, manufacture and marketing of uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) focused on advanced solutions for the naval sector; and , a technology-based company specialising in computer vision, artificial intelligence and multimodal data analysis; are the major winners of the 19th IDEAS UPV Awards, a competition that last night recognised the best projects supported by IDEAS, the entrepreneurship area of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).
Pioneering in the Spanish university ecosystem, IDEAS UPV was founded in 1992 to promote the creation of companies by students, staff and alumni of the UPV, a task it has carried out with extraordinary success. To date, it has helped to launch more than 1,000 companies and projects, many of which are now leaders in their respective sectors.
In the AVANZA category, which recognises commercial companies, self-employed individuals or cooperatives with economic activity established before 31 December 2020, the first prize, worth €6,000, went to Clotsy Brand. This Valencian brand creates timeless, high-quality garments using sustainable materials, ethically produced in Spain and Portugal, and supports the local economy.
The second prize, worth €4,000, went to (Grupo ImpactE Planificación Urbana), a company specialising in IT services, artificial intelligence programming and data analysis applied to decision-making in the field of energy efficiency.
In the SPIN-OFF category, aimed at companies promoted by UPV staff based on the university's own research activity, the 19th edition of the IDEAS AWARDS gave the top prize, worth €5,000, to OpticalSens.
Created in January 2024 by the UPV and the University of Valencia, OpticalSens aims to develop chemical sensors and biomarkers of high scientific and industrial value. It is also a pioneer in generating technology for the detection of chemical submission substances.
In this category, the second prize (€3,000) went to , a spin-off company focused on continuous learning and personal development through games that promote emotional management, self-awareness and mental well-being. Akisei also prevents mental health problems through emotional education and early detection of people at risk.
In the LEAN category, which recognises companies created since 1 January 2021, Valyra Aerospace, an aeronautical company specialising in the design of uncrewed aerial systems designed to operate from vessels and port facilities, carrying out Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions and providing logistical support in coastal areas and on the high seas, won the first prize of €4,000.
Second prize (€3,000) went to . This engineering company promotes the development of solutions that generate high added value while prioritising environmental care. In contrast, third prize (€2,000) went to . This company helps SMEs implement artificial intelligence solutions in a simple and practical way, saving time, reducing costs, and improving customer service.
Finally, the Women's Entrepreneur Award, worth €3,000, recognised Artikode Intelligence, the technology-based company specialising in computer vision, artificial intelligence and multimodal data analysis, created by Ana Martín Sanchis.
The company has developed PixNormous, a web platform for the visualisation, annotation and automatic analysis of gigapixel images using advanced artificial intelligence models; and AI4YOU, a service for the creation and deployment of customised AI models tailored to the client's software and/or hardware. It also covers the integration and analysis of heterogeneous data and signals, offering versatile solutions powered by artificial intelligence.
