The Universitat Politècnica de València presents the new UPV Hangzhou Campus . This city, the capital of Zhejiang province, is one of China's main hubs of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ innovation, often referred to as China's Silicon Valley, and is home to large corporations such as Alibaba, DeepSeek, TikTok, and Unitree. And from now on, it will also be home to the new Beihang València Polytechnic Institute (BVPI), the first Spanish university centre in China.

Inaugurated last week, the centre has been selected by the Chinese Ministry of Education as a pilot project for the Sino-Foreigner Excellence Engineering Programme. This initiative will enable UPV students to obtain an official Chinese degree from Beihang University (BUAA) upon completing an academic stay in China. The programme will be integrated into future double degrees between the UPV and BUAA, to ensure that all shared academic offerings provide a double degree recognised in both Spain and the Chinese market.

This was highlighted by the rector of the Universitat Politècnica de València, José E. Capilla, in a meeting with the president of the Valencian Regional Government, Carlos Mazón, which was also attended by the conseller for Education, Culture, Universities and Employment, José Antonio Rovira; the regional secretary for Universities, Esther Gómez; and the vice-rector for Internationalisation and Communication, José Francisco Monserrat.

In addition, the UPV has signed an agreement with the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) to provide grants for students and academic and research staff wishing to study at the Chinese campus. 'The CSC scholarships and the future UPV-Martín de Rada programme will open up new academic and professional opportunities for our students at the BVPI, who will also be able to undertake internships at leading global companies,' added Rector José E. Capilla.

Ten new bachelor's degrees

Furthermore, the UPV's Governing Council has today approved ten new bachelor's degrees at the Beihang València Polytechnic Institute (BVPI), which will be added to the four-existing doctoral programmes. These degrees are in Communication Networks and Systems, Computer Science and Technology, Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics Engineering, and the university master's degrees in Aerospace Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Wireless Communications, Computer Science and Technology, and Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics Engineering.
