QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025

The Universitat Politècnica de València, among the 150 best universities in the world to study Engineering and Technology

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has been recognised by the as one of the 150 best universities in the world to study Engineering and Technology. Specifically, the UPV is in 145th position in the ranking.

Likewise, the UPV also stands out in the 4 other major areas of education in which QS - one of the three major world benchmarks in university quality assessment together with the Shanghai ranking and Times Higher Education (THE) - categorises its classification: 331st in Natural Sciences, top 500 in Arts and Humanities as well as in Life Sciences and Medicine, and top 550 in Social Sciences and Business Management.

8 national podiums

In turn, QS subdivides the 5 major branches of knowledge mentioned above into rankings by specific subjects.

At a national level, the UPV obtained a total of 8 podiums, being recognised as the best university in Spain for studying Art and Design as well as Document and Information Management, second in Materials Science and Statistics and Operations Research, and third in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics and Manufacturing.

Outstanding in 17 disciplines at international level and top 200 worldwide in 8 of them

In terms of the overall assessment, QS highlights the UPV in a total of 17 disciplines, including it in the top 200 worldwide in up to 8 of them.

Specifically, these are Document and Information Management (51-100), Art and Design (101-150), Architecture (101-150), Chemical Engineering (151-200), Civil Engineering (151-200), Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics and Manufacturing (151-200), Materials Science (151-200) and Statistics and Operations Research (151-200).

In addition, the prestigious indicator also recognises the UPV at world level in subjects such as Chemistry (201-250), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (201-250), Computer Science (251-300), Mathematics (301-350), Environmental Sciences (301-350), Physics and Astronomy (301-350), Biological Sciences (401-450), Business Administration and Management (401-450) and Economic Sciences and Econometrics (401-450).

5,203 universities analysed by Quacquarelli Symonds

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the world's leading provider of services, analytics and research in the higher education sector, has carried out a comparative analysis of the reputation and research performance of a total of 5,203 universities for this ranking.

Through the assessment of 5 indicators - academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per article, h-index and international research network - QS evaluates the work of universities by grouping it into the 5 main areas of knowledge cited - Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Business Management - which it then subdivides into rankings of 55 academic disciplines.
